Our Professional Fees

At Morgan Optometry you deserve being given the best individual advice and care possible by expert staff.

Private Eye Examination:

£59.00 (£39.00 if you are under 40 yrs)

30 – 40 minute examination that includes Advanced Ocular Imaging technology and a £20 voucher towards eyewear.

NHS Sight Test Eligible:

Basic NHS Sight Test: Free
+Advanced Ocular Imaging: £44.00 (or £20 if under 19 years old)

NHS Eligibility

Changes in NHS regulations since 2001 mean that we may require evidence of NHS eligibility.

Please bring along your NHS card or benefits booklet as evidence of entitlement. You are entitled to an NHS Sight Test at intervals specified by the NHS (usually, but not always, 2 years). An eye examination within that interval may incur a charge. Who qualifies for NHS spectacle vouchers?

  • Children under 16
  • Full time students who are 16 to 18 years old
  • Those receiving Income based benefits, i.e. Income Support, Working Families Tax Credit, Income Based Job Seekers Allowance and Pension Credit Guarantee Credit.
  • Those holding Form HC2/3
  • Complex lenses (partial help)
  • Persons not in the above list but on low income may still get help. Please ask for Form HC1 in advance of your appointment.
  • Who qualifies for an NHS sight test?
  • All on above list
  • Over 60’s
  • People with diabetes or glaucoma
  • People over 40 with immediate family history of glaucoma
  • Those registered blind or partially sighted

Contact Lenses

Fitting: £55.00*

Assuming an initial eye examination has already been conducted. The fitting fee covers the assessment, trial, insertion and removal training, and hygiene instruction to determine which contact lenses are most suitable for you.

*The £55.00 fee assumes standard contact lens fitting. More complex fittings are charged at higher fee.

Contact Lens Check (includes corneal topography): £55.00

Anterior Eye Clinic:

Initial appointment: £85.00

Follow up appointment: £49.00

Goldmann Tonometry:

£25.00

A ‘gold-standard’ method of measuring the eye’s pressure. It is used in the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma. A drop of short-acting anaesthetic is used in the eye and a special instrument gently touches the eye with a disposable probe that does not hurt.

Joint Aviation Authority Ophthalmology Vision Assessment:

£75.00

For pilots requiring Class I or Class II JAA medical certificates, we provide examinations and reports.

If you have a sudden change in vision or an acute problem with your eye and need to be seen the same day, a practitioner may be able to see you in their break time. Alternatively, the Oxford Eye Hospital eye emergency number is: 01865 234800

Threshold Visual Field Examination:

£35.00 to £55.00

Threshold Visual Fields using latest Glaucoma Progression Analysis software provides a gold standard for monitoring glaucoma treatment.

Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS):

In conjunction with the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (OCCG NHS), Morgan Optometry can provide emergency eye appointments for specific conditions. These appointments are paid for by the OCCG but require completion of a triage questionnaire beforehand to see if you are suitable.
