Who We Are



Morgan Optometry (previously known as Morgan White Optometrists) has been established since 2006. We pride ourselves in our combination of highly qualified practitioners and friendly support staff. Whether you are looking for stylish glasses, extremely comfortable contact lenses, or an eye examination that uses the latest in modern technology to ensure your eyes are clear and healthy, we look forward to helping you.

Andrew Morgan


PhD FCOptom DipGlauc

Dr Andrew Morgan completed his Bachelor of Science in Optometry at the City University, London before finishing optometrist training at the Colchester Eye Hospital. After working at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Oxford Eye Hospital and private practice, he specialised in contact lenses and binocular vision anomalies for which he was awarded a Fellowship to the College of Optometrists in 1994. In 2003, Andrew received a Doctorate in research following his completion of a PhD looking into the role of circulation in glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. He has had papers published in the journals British Journal of Ophthalmology and Glaucoma. In 2013, Andrew was awarded the College of Optometrists’ Diploma in Glaucoma.

Andrew lives in North Oxford with his wife, Lisa, and occasionally their two sons. He enjoys cycling and snowboarding.

Lisa Morgan


BSc MCOptom Higher Cert Glauc

Following working for Melson Wingate Opticians and the Optometry Dept at City University, London, she joined Morgan White Optometrists in 2006 to work with her husband, Andrew. Lisa continues to work part-time at the Oxford Eye Hospital where she specialises in glaucoma shared care, macular degeneration work and children’s vision problems. She has been awarded two certificates for further training in glaucoma and paediatric eyecare.

Lisa lives in North Oxford with her husband, Andrew, and occasionally their two sons. She enjoys baking and eating cakes!

Kathy Gabbatiss

KATHY GABBATISS (Locum Optometrist)

BSc MCOptom

Kathy Gabbatiss completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry at UMIST, Manchester. Having worked both in private practice and at the Oxford Eye Hospital, Kathy has a reputation for her thorough, clinical eye examinations. Kathy takes a special interest in dry eye management and, being a committee member of the Oxfordshire Local Optometric Committee, helps organise Peer Review meetings for the County’s optometrists. Kathy lives in Wootton by Woodstock, Oxfordshire with her husband.

Kathy enjoys poetry, theatre and laughing.


LAURA WOOD (Locum Optometrist)

BSc MCOptom

Laura completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry at Cardiff before completing her training in community practice in the Midlands. She is now working towards the College of Optometrists’ Professional Certificate in Glaucoma, having previously been awarded a Professional Certificate in Medical Retina and a Professional Certificate in Low Vision. This will complete her studies for Cardiff University’s Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Optometry. Laura has a keen interest in interpreting OCT images, dry eyes assessments and contact lenses. Outside of general practice Laura is an active member of the Local Optical Committee, where she helps to coordinate educational lectures.

Laura lives in a North Oxfordshire Village and enjoys keeping fit, modern jive dancing, and caring for her cat.




Hayley has been at the practice since 2010 when she enrolled in our in-practice training scheme. Initially, she successfully qualified as a Dispensing Optician and then as a fully registered Contact Lens Optician. After a sabbatical year at the University of Bradford in 2017, Hayley graduated in Optometry with a First Class Honours Degree and, following her Pre-Registration post at Morgan Optometry, qualified as a fully registered optometrist in 2018.

In her spare time, Hayley enjoys going to the gym, supporting Watford Football Club and doing ‘Escape Rooms’ in record time.



FBDO Dispensing Manager

Astra Smith completed her dispensing optician qualification in 2000 and is registered with the General Optical Council. Her experience and knowledge of optical lens design allows her to provide individualized advice on the best spectacle lens form for each patient. Astra is the practice’s Dispensing Manager and has the important role of choosing the practice’s frame selections. Astra’s flare for fashion and her perfectionism combine to make her golden rule that all her patients requiring spectacles leave with stylish, comfortable glasses. Astra lives in South Warwickshire with her husband.

Astra enjoys caravanning and chocolate.

Miss Terri Fennell


Dispensing Optician FBDO

Terri joined our practice in 2014 as a receptionist / optometric assistant. In 2015 she started a Diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing at the City & Islington College, London. She excelled at her exams and became a fully qualified Dispensing Optician in 2018. She likes to keep up to date with current fashions, ensuring everyone leaves with a stylish, comfortable, and well-fitting pair of spectacles.

Terri lives in Kidlington with her partner; she enjoys travelling, dance and interior design.
