Morgan Optometry (previously known as Morgan White Optometrists) has been established since 2006. We pride ourselves in our combination of highly qualified practitioners, GOC registered dispensing opticians, and friendly support staff. Whether you are looking for stylish glasses, extremely comfortable contact lenses, or an eye examination that uses the latest in modern technology to ensure your eyes are clear and healthy, we look forward to helping you.

ANDREW J. MORGAN

ANDREW J. MORGAN

PhD FCOptom DipGlauc DipTp(IP)

Dr Andrew Morgan completed his Bachelor of Science in Optometry at the City University, London before finishing optometrist training at the Colchester Eye Hospital. Andrew has been awarded both the College of Optometrists’ Diploma in Glaucoma and Diploma in Therapeutics (Independent Prescribing). As well as working in the practice at Kidlington, he works one day a week at the Oxford Eye Hospital in the Glaucoma and Eye Emergency Departments.

Andrew lives in North Oxford with his wife, Lisa, and occasionally their two sons. He enjoys cycling and snowboarding.

David Ward

SAMANTHA HOWARD

BSc MCOptom

Sam studied Optometry at Cardiff. She is a very experienced clinician who has practised in Oxfordshire for many years. Sam is particularly interested in providing comprehensive eye examinations, taking care to explain things as she goes, and enjoys seeing patients of all ages. Sam’s knowledge is valued and so she supervises the visiting Eye Hospital pre-registration optometrist, when they come for their primary care experience.

In her spare time, Sam enjoys re-reading any of the Discworld books, travel in the UK and abroad and demolishing a good cheese board. Sam lives in Eynsham with her husband Dave, a wayward garden, and more Star Wars memorabilia than is healthy.

Katherine

KATHERINE (LOWE) HILL

BSc (Hons) MCOptom

Katherine is a hospital optometrist, who graduated from City University in 2020 and completed her training at Oxford Eye Hospital, where she still works most of the week.  She has a wide experience and specialises in contact lenses and more complicated refractions and is now undertaking a Postgraduate professional Medical Retina course  . Before finding her love of optometry, Katherine studied at Cardiff University where she obtained a Biomedical Sciences degree and a Masters degree in Tissue Engineering.

Katherine likes to swim and cycle.

LISA C. MORGAN

LISA C. MORGAN

After qualifying as an optometrist at Aston University, Birmingham, Lisa worked in a number of private practices and the Optometry Dept at City University, London. She joined Morgan Optometry in 2006 to work with her husband, Andrew. Lisa continues to work part-time at the Oxford Eye Hospital where she specialises in glaucoma shared care, macular degeneration work and children’s vision problems.

Lisa lives in North Oxford with her husband, Andrew, and occasionally their two sons. She enjoys baking and eating cakes!

MOAD ZAIDANI (Optometrist)

BSc MCOptom Prof Cert Med Ret

Moad studied optometry at Ulster University, Northern Ireland and completed his professional qualification at St James’ Hospital in Leeds. He then worked at the Oxford Eye hospital, and now works at Kings Hospital in London. He has varied clinical experience with advanced contact lens fittings, paediatric, low vision assessment, medical retinal clinic and eye casualty.

When he is not giving excellent eyecare, his hobbies are football and the gym.

David is a very experienced practitioner who excels at patient care, children’s examinations and contact lens fitting.

He enjoys walking and supporting his children in their weekend football matches.

Astra

ASTRA SMITH

FBDO Dispensing Manager

Astra Smith completed her dispensing optician qualification in 2000 and is registered with the General Optical Council. Her experience and knowledge of optical lens design allows her to provide individualized advice on the best spectacle lens form for each patient. Astra is the practice’s Dispensing Manager and has the important role of choosing the practice’s frame selections. Astra’s flare for fashion and her perfectionism combine to make her golden rule that all her patients requiring spectacles leave with stylish, comfortable glasses. Astra lives in South Warwickshire with her husband.

Astra enjoys caravanning, boating and chocolate.

Carly Warner

CARLY WARNER

FBDO Dispensing Optician

Carly completed her dispensing optician qualification in 2017 and is registered with the General Optical Council. In addition to working in the practice, Carly is on the Local Optometric Committee where she helps with the continuing education programme for Oxfordshire’s ophthalmic professionals and liaises with other professional bodies.

Carly lives near Witney with her husband and, when not giving excellent advice on frames and lenses, enjoys outdoor activities – especially those involving her vegetable patch!

Trainee Dispensing Optician

Helen was formerly an optometric technician at Oxford Eye hospital and is now enjoying offering an excellent dispensing service in the practice.

JACQUI GARDENER

Locum Dispensing Optician

We are delighted to have Jacqui’s wisdom and experience. She has worked in many independent optical practices over the years, and was previously an ABDO examiner. She lives in the Cotswolds and enjoys walking her dogs and cycling.

KATHY GABBATISS

Kathy Gabbatiss worked with the team at Morgan Optometry for 17 years, and retired at the end of July 2025.

Ajay

AJAY KUMAR

BSc MCOptom DipTp(IP) Prof Cert Glauc

Ajay has worked as an optometrist since 2001 and works part time at Warwick Hospital’s Ophthalmology Department seeing Glaucoma Patients.

After 5 years commuting from Coventry, he will be stopping at the end of November 2024 and taking on more glaucoma management closer to home.
