Who We Are



Morgan Optometry (previously known as Morgan White Optometrists) has been established since 2006. We pride ourselves in our combination of highly qualified practitioners and friendly support staff. Whether you are looking for stylish glasses, extremely comfortable contact lenses, or an eye examination that uses the latest in modern technology to ensure your eyes are clear and healthy, we look forward to helping you.


PhD FCOptom DipGlauc DipTp(IP)

Dr Andrew Morgan completed his Bachelor of Science in Optometry at the City University, London before finishing optometrist training at the Colchester Eye Hospital. After working at Moorfields Eye Hospital and private practice, he specialised in contact lenses and binocular vision anomalies for which he was awarded a Fellowship to the College of Optometrists in 1994. In 2003, Andrew received a Doctorate in research following his completion of a PhD looking into the role of circulation in glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. Andrew has been awarded both the College of Optometrists’ Diploma in Glaucoma and Diploma in Therapeutics (Independent Prescribing). As well as working in the practice at Kidlington, he works one day a week at the Oxford Eye Hospital in the Glaucoma and Eye Emergency Departments.

Andrew lives in North Oxford with his wife, Lisa, and occasionally their two sons. He enjoys cycling and snowboarding.


BSc MCOptom Higher Cert Glauc

After qualifying as an optometrist at Aston University, Birmingham, Lisa worked in a number of private practices and the Optometry Dept at City University, London. She joined Morgan Optometry in 2006 to work with her husband, Andrew. Lisa continues to work part-time at the Oxford Eye Hospital where she specialises in glaucoma shared care, macular degeneration work and children’s vision problems. She has been awarded two certificates for further training in glaucoma and paediatric eyecare.

Lisa lives in North Oxford with her husband, Andrew, and occasionally their two sons. She enjoys baking and eating cakes!


BSc MCOptom DipTp(IP) Prof Cert Glauc

Ajay has worked as an optometrist since 2001 and works part time at Warwick Hospital’s Ophthalmology Department seeing Glaucoma Patients.



David is a very experienced optometrist who first qualified in 1983.


BSc Prof Cert Paed Eye Care

Emily qualified in 2002 and works at the Stoke Mandeville Ophthalmology Department and the Eye Casualty Department where she specialises in children’s visual problems.Emily is currently working towards her independent prescribing diploma.

Kathy Gabbatiss

KATHY GABBATISS (Locum Optometrist)

Kathy Gabbatiss completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry at UMIST, Manchester. Having worked both in private practice and at the Oxford Eye Hospital, Kathy has a reputation for her thorough, clinical eye examinations. Kathy takes a special interest in dry eye management and, being a committee member of the Oxfordshire Local Optometric Committee, helps organise Peer Review meetings for the County’s optometrists. Kathy lives in Wootton by Woodstock, Oxfordshire with her husband.

Kathy enjoys poetry, theatre and laughing.


FBDO Dispensing Manager

Astra Smith completed her dispensing optician qualification in 2000 and is registered with the General Optical Council. Her experience and knowledge of optical lens design allows her to provide individualized advice on the best spectacle lens form for each patient. Astra is the practice’s Dispensing Manager and has the important role of choosing the practice’s frame selections. Astra’s flare for fashion and her perfectionism combine to make her golden rule that all her patients requiring spectacles leave with stylish, comfortable glasses. Astra lives in South Warwickshire with her husband.

Astra enjoys caravanning, boating and chocolate.


Trainee Dispensing Optician

Helen was formerly optometric technician at Oxford Eye hospital and is now enjoying offering an excellent dispensing service in the practice and remote learning on dispensing course, supported by our qualified dispensing opticians.



Part Time Dispensing Optician FBDO

Kym is currently working maternity cover part time and works the rest of the week at the Oxford Eye Hospital.

Graham is an experienced locum dispensing optician and tutor for Association British Dispensing Opticians distance learning courses.


Dispensing Optician FBDO

Terri joined our practice in 2014 as a receptionist / optometric assistant. In 2015 she started a Diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing at the City & Islington College, London. She excelled at her exams and became a fully qualified Dispensing Optician in 2018. She likes to keep up to date with current fashions, ensuring everyone leaves with a stylish, comfortable, and well-fitting pair of spectacles.

Terri lives in Kidlington with her husband; she enjoys traveling, dance and interior design.

Terri is currently on maternity leave until January 2022.
